what apostate info was around in early 80's?
by highdose ina jw i know i very fond of telling people that he read apostate stuff in the early 80's and that when he later came into the turth it was proved to him that it was all lies ( the apostate info that is).
i've always wondered what it was he read, and how it could have been refuted by the dubs?.
and no, i've got no way of asking him, not without landing myself in hot water.

In the late seventies in London, I remember a pioneer sister having mentioned to me, in hushed voice, that there was an apostate book called "escaped from the tower", written by a former JW. I wonder if she was referring to Shnell's book, since I've never heard about that book again.

i remember the week she was born very well.
i have watched tennis since the late '70s, and i remember when billie jean king was a star, when jimmy connors was a hot new thing, and when "virginia slims" matches were shown on wtbs.

i re-read it after someone posted to it and brought it back on active topics and it was kind of prophetic in a way ... well, i had the 5 years part right if nothing else:.
it would be nice to visit the site (or whatever one is around then) in 5 years time to let people know how we're doing and find only a few of the same people still around.

Thanks once again for keeping this site running and even more so that it seems you thought several times of stopping it.
I agree very much with your opinion in part n° 4 that you can't remain an ex JW for your whole life. True, you know you are healed once you have gone beyond bitterness and resentment and a positive sign of this healing is the fact that the support site looks no longer so interesting. Just a natural process, nothing to do with the quality of JWD. I must admit that since I stopped attending meetings altogether about 2 months ago, I've found it much more difficult to bring into JWD JW- related threads or just posts (already not plenty), as if fading from JWD was part of leaving the organisation behind for good. Thanks anyway to all those who share their personal experiences and those who feed the site with insider WTS news, many are here to show fresh interest in the matter, which testifies for the site's usefulness.

In Paris, flying over the intra muros city is forbidden, apart from exceptional events such as the Bastille day parade, for the French AF, or film shootings, due to confined air space. Don't they do the same in NY ? So sad.

MY APOLOGIES TO ALL
by Mary inlooking back over the last few weeks, i think i've been unnessarily rude to some posters and i just want to apologize to anyone who has been on the receiving end of my anger recently.. i believe that i'm so angry, dismayed, devastated and heartbroken over what's happening to my brother in law, that i've been taking it out on others and that's not right.
it makes absolutely no difference what i think of the wts as a whole, or whether or not americans have a universal healthcare system......none of that makes any difference whatsoever when someone you love and has been like your brother for 35 years is dying and there's not a fucking thing we can do about it.. my sister just called me and there's more bad news, and that's that his disease has now progressed into the acute myeloid leukemia which means he cannot start the therapy they were going to give him, as this is far more serious now.
they want to start chemo right away, but his blood counts aren't up high enough for him to survive.

I Have A New Grandson But He's Very Sick :(
by minimus inhe was born yesterday with many complications including breathing problems, possible lung underdevelpment, anemia and body temperature issues.
the poor little guy was hooked up to a breathing tube and tons of monitors.
because the hospitals couldn't handle some of the problems, they sent him and my daughter to the best hospital in boston last night.

my best wishes are with Benjamin, his parents and yourself. Babies can be so resilient, I was told that when I was born, my father lamented that I was so small and frail, doctors were unsure about my future. However I wanted to live, everything got fitted in proper order within days and I'm still here. Warm thoughts to you all.

by Farkel inif the wts likes to brag about anything other than themselves and how great they are, it is their boasts about their triumphs in the united states supreme court.
they brag about how much the people of the united states owes them and their god jehovah for their part in championing freedom of speech and religion in america.. we've seen all of those supreme court cases paraded about in various wts publications, haven't we?.
i recently found one of them that is nowhere to be found on my wt cd rom.

I agree on #2 tactic to keep the flock stick tight, I'm no too sure about #1. As far as I could observe until I left (only a few weeks ago), the prospect of Armageddon plays a very small part, if any, in directing JWs' individual lifes. I've not heard any JW for a long time mention in conversation that they should keep awake, in case it occurs in their lifetime, other than as an old conventional JW expression. I believe more in the power of the fear to lose social and family links, which, IMO, is in the end the last glue that keeps JWs together. No religion in that, just social pressure.
